The 2010 Central Pennsylvania Krunch 12U Junior Olympic Fastpitch team won the American Softball Association (ASA) Class “A” Baseliners Halloween Classic in Sterling, VA, played on October 24 and 25, 2009. The only Pennsylvania team in the tourney, the Krunch topped a field of 17 teams from Virginia and Maryland. The Krunch went 6-0 for the weekend and outscored their opponents 36 – 1, beating the 2009 Virginia State Champion 12U team, the McLean Mystics in the finals.

The Krunch also won the USSSA Octoberfest 13U Tournament in Shippensburg, PA over the weekend of October 9 and 10, 2009. In that tournament, the Krunch went 5-1, primarily against older competitors from Pennsylvania and Maryland. By winning the tournament, the Krunch qualified for the 2010 USSSA World Series in Kissimmee, FL.

In September, the Krunch finished as a Finalist in the rain-shortened USSSA Fear the Fastpitch 13U Tournament in Glen Bernie, MD. In this event the Krunch went a perfect 3-0.

Overall, after playing several other non-tournament games, this group of athletes from all over Central Pennsylvania finished the Fall season with an incredible 19-2 record, competing primarily against 13U and 14U competition. This summer, the Krunch will compete in 10 Class “A” tournaments in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S., primarily in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware before competing for a national championship against some of the top 12U Junior Olympic Teams from all over the country.

The Krunch played in the USSSA March Madness tournament at 'The Dome' in Muncy on March 28, 2010. The Krunch won the first 3 games by a total score of 38-2 before losing in the Championship game 3-0 to the McLean Mystics, the 2009 Virgina State Champions.

The Krunch played in the PONY APPLE BLOSSOM tournament in Winchester, Virginia May 1st and 2nd. Overall record was 5-1-1. They beat the Bobcats, Misfits, Blue Rage, Manassas Blaze and Ashburn Shooting Stars with a combined score of 54-9. They tied the Stars97 1-1 and lost in the Championiship game to the River City Riot 11-7 in a game where both teams showed there hitting excellence with strategic bunting and slapping complemented with timely extra base hits. In that game, both teams made very athletic fielding plays. The Krunch played in the Ocean City, Md Blast at the Beach tournament the weekend of June 18th. They went 4-0 in Pool Play and was seeded #2 going into Championship play giving up a total of 4 runs during Pool Play. They won there first game in Championship play then lost to the Maryland Chill Black and finished tie for 5th out of of 45 teams.

The Krunch traveled to the ASA State Championships in Pennsbury, Pa. the weekend of June 25th. They won 5 games and lost 2 and finished 3rd. They beat the Philadelphia Spirit Black once and the Newton Rock twice along the way. They lost to the eventual champions, the Pa. Chaos, 6-4 and the 2nd place finisher the Delco Rage 6-5 in an International Tiebreaker.

The Krunch then participated in the PONY Independence Day tournament in Hagerstown, Md. the weekend of July 4th. The girls went 4-1-1 in Pool Play then 3-0 in Championship Play. They beat a strong field of teams including the Chesire Wildcats, Pa. Alley Cats, Jersey Intensity and the Bayside Blues twice including a 6-3 victory in the Championship game.

The Krunch played in the ASA Eastern Nationals Championships in York, Pa. August 4-8. The girls went 1 and 1 beating the Delaware Magic from Nassau, Delaware 7-6 and lost to the New Era squad from East Aurora, New York 4-3. They then won 3 games including beating the New York Bad Apples, New York Horseheads and the Duchess Debs from Pleasant Valley, New York. They lost to the eventual Eastern National Champions New Era 5-4.
