USSSA Elite Select Tournament was another Championship weekend for the Krunch 16U Blue team.

Saturday the girls had to play 3 games back to back to back in dry and dusty conditions. The first game was against Team Virginia Mizuno. The offense started things out by putting up 2 runs in the first inning and adding an additional run in the sixth inning. The defense and pitching were spot on and allowed no Team Virginia player to cross the plate in seven innings of play. The final score was 3-0.

The second game was against the South Jersey Mystics Elite. This game only lasted five innings with Krunch getting a run rule victory. The girls won every inning with a final score of 9-1. The offense was relentless putting up multiple base hits during the game. The defense and pitching were tough. They only allowed 1 player to advance past second base all game.

The third game was against Diamond Jim’s Stafford Diamonds. This was another game that ended in a run rule after the fifth inning. Krunch did all their scoring in the third and fourth innings scoring 3 in the third and 6 in the fourth. The offense out hit the Stafford Diamonds 12-1 to plate 9 runs. The defense and pitching continued to build on the already great day and allowed only one runner to advance past second base.

Championship Sunday started of playing the Diamond Jim’s Stafford Diamonds. This time the Diamonds put up a fight but, in the end, the Krunch girls still came out on the winning end. The offense did their job by putting up 4 runs in four innings of play. The pitching and defense did their thing and only allowed 1 run to cross the plate.

The Championship game was against the South Jersey Mystics Elite. The Krunch offense was up to the challenge. They were able to get players on base every inning and taking advantage of timely hits to push runners across the plate. They were able to able to put 3 runs on the board in the second inning and the sixth inning. The defense and pitching were stellar in shutting down the Mystics offense. In seven innings of play, only one Mystics player made it past first base. In the end the final score was 6-0.

At the end of the tournament, Krunch went 5-0 to be crowned the Champion of the USSSA Elite Select Tournament and earned a bid to USSSA World Championship in Florida. In 5 games, the Krunch pitching and defense only allowed 2 runs to score while the offense put up 27 runs. Pitchers on the weekend had 29 k’s and 7 bb’s.
