Military Appreciation Tournament

By Sawdey, 11/05/18, 10:30AM EST

What a great weekend we had for our last Fall tournament of the 2018 season.

Pennsylvania Krunch 14U Blue traveled to Nokesville, VA to compete against some very good teams for their last tournament of the 2018 Fall season. The tournament was on a 3 hour delay because of the rain Friday night. With the delay, the tournament director kept the same format, but shortened the games to 1 hour long.

The Krunch girls were ready and came out firing on all cylinders for the first game. They put up 10 runs in the first game to come away with the win against the Front Royal Fire to defeat them 10-1.

Game 2 was against the Virginia Stars. This was a very tough game that ended in a 0-0 tie in the end. The girls battled all game and never gave an inch. With great pitching and a rock solid defense, the girls never flinched on any ball that was put in play.

Game 3 was against the Virginia Firebirds. It came down to 1 run scored in the 3rd inning that ended up being the winning run.  Again the defense stepped up their game to support some very good pitching holding the Firebirds to only 3 hits, and allowing no runs to cross the plate. Final score was 1-0.

At the end of Saturday’s play, the Krunch girls were seated #1 out of their pool.

Sunday started off with an 11 a.m. game against the Virginia Glory. The game was close with the Krunch leading 2-0 going into the bottom half of the 6th inning. That’s when the Krunch broke out the long ball and put 4 runs on the board with back to back home runs and a triple. The final score ended up being 6-1.

Into the semi-finals against the Maryland Olney Cougars. After the first inning the score was 0-0, then the scoring started! Krunch won every inning up until the 4th and final inning when the Cougars tried to mount a comeback. The Krunch defense and pitching buckled down and stopped the Cougars, winning the game 11-9.

Finals here we come!

The championship game was against Loudon Liberty Blue. This was a great back and forth battle all the way to the final out in the 7th inning under the lights. The Krunch girls battled hard and to over come a 5 run deficit to make a game of it. The girls dug deep and never gave up on their team. In the end they came up just short loosing the championship game 11-8.

This group of talented young ladies have come together to make a Team that has a lot of potential!

At the end of the 2018 Fall season, the Krunch 14U Blue team ended up finishing with a record of 21-6-1. They finished 1st in two tournaments, 2nd in two tournaments, 3rd in one tournament and going 3-0 in a rain shortened 16u college showcase tournament.

Great job Krunch Blue.
